What is Form E?

Form E is the financial statement used in England and Wales to disclose your assets, debts, income, needs and supporting documents in divorce financial remedy proceedings. It is around 28 pages and the same form is used in mediation and voluntary disclosure.

The form itself is free, but the difficulty is knowing what counts, which documents to attach, and how to present figures the court will accept. That is exactly what the guided questionnaire above handles.

Why complete it with Divvio

  • Court-ready output in the official HMCTS layout
  • Automatic totals keep your figures consistent
  • Autosave — pick up on any device
  • Personalised document checklist as you go
  • One-off £99, not £1,000–£2,500+ for a solicitor
Form E is usually exchanged no later than 35 days before the first appointment.

Form E online: common questions

Can I really complete Form E online myself?+

Yes. Where your finances are reasonably straightforward, you can complete Form E yourself with structured guidance. Divvio walks you through every section in plain English, does the arithmetic for you, and produces a court-ready PDF. Get professional advice if you have a business, trust, overseas assets, suspected hidden assets, or any safety concerns.

How much does it cost?+

It is free to start and work through the questionnaire — you only pay when you are ready to download your completed Form E. The solo price is £99, compared with £1,000–£2,500+ for a solicitor to prepare the same form.

Is my Form E court-ready?+

Yes. The output follows the official HMCTS Form E structure, with continuation sheets generated automatically where your answers run long, so it is ready to sign and exchange. You can view a watermarked sample of the finished PDF before you start.

Do I need an account to start?+

No. You can begin the questionnaire straight away with no account. You only create an account to save your progress across devices and to download the finished form.

What documents will I need?+

Typically around 12 months of bank statements, mortgage statements, property valuations, pension CETVs, payslips and your P60 (or tax returns if self-employed), and statements for any debts. Divvio builds a personalised checklist as you go.

How long does it take?+

Most people complete Form E across a few short sessions. Gathering documents is usually the slowest part — request pension CETVs early, as providers can take up to three months.
